Online in line for Top Honours

Gloucester based packaging company Online Packaging has been named a finalist in ‘The 2004 Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo Business Awards’.

Judges were looking for companies which could demonstrate business growth and ongoing profitability, whilst contributing to the local economy in terms of employment and community involvement.

Online Packaging has doubled operating profits in the last two years, increased its annual turnover to £6m and now employs 40 highly skilled and experienced members of staff.

Chris Hutchens, managing director of Online Packaging said: “We are thrilled at being short listed for this prestigious award. To be a finalist means a lot to us – being recognised for our efforts is in line with our desire for continued growth and expansion. We are greatly looking forward to hearing the judges’ final decision at the gala evening in October.”

Formed just ten years ago, Online Packaging now operates from three branches – Gloucester, Wakefield in West Yorkshire and, just opened, Hinckley in Leicestershire. Additional branches are planned in Manchester, the West Midlands and Southampton. The business services 600 customers in the Gloucestershire area alone, including Arjo Ltd, Creed Catering, Messier Dowty and Paperhouse plc.

“Online Packaging’s expertise lies in providing a highly efficient packaging material management solution that is tailored to suit the individual requirements of each customer,” adds Chris Hutchens. “Without packaging, products cannot be delivered, and without products to deliver valuable contracts can be lost forever.”

The winner of The 2004 Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo Business Awards will be announced on 21 October at the Cheltenham Town Hall in Gloucestershire.
